The influence of the media on children and adolescents

The education of children and adolescents is one of the main tasks of modern society. Education is the purposeful development of a growing person as a unique personality growth and improvement of his moral and creative force. On the child’s development is influenced by family, and the environment in which it rotates, and the school, and the media . All these factors contribute to the development and improvement of moral and creative force in the younger generation. And a special place in the system of influence on the attitudes and the formation of the value system of children and teenagers is the media. What we call the media? In the Law of the Russian Federation of 27 December 1991 No. 2124-1 “media” said media (media), media – periodicals, radio, television and video, newsreel programs, other forms of dissemination media. Under public information, the legislator understands: «designed for unrestricted print, audio, audiovisual and other communications and materials”. The Internet is considered not as a special media with its unique nature, and as a kind of informational environment that can be used by everyone — including the editors of the media.

So, indeed, did the media contribute to the formation of a unique personality, ensuring the growth and improvement of the moral forces of children and adolescents? So whether they are “unrestricted ”?

This problem is actual for modern Russia.

In the twentieth century, the media has taken a special position. First, among the long-established sources – Newspapers, radio, new – television and the Internet. They are also actively involved in the life of people that today we can not imagine without them its existence. And by traditional and new sources of information are promoted certain values that is capable of forming the respective installation.

And in this regard, it should be noted that the media can produce both positive and negative impact on young people. Thus, the media has two sides as two sides of the coin.

· Positive aspects: the media keeps abreast of all current events, the media promotes a common culture, including political culture of the population; serves for mutual informing of the authorities and the population; relieve social tensions.

· Negative aspects: the media are also sources vulgar information; in modern soap operas, movies, and even cartoons, there is the violence; the “adult” subculture displaces the children’s subculture; reducing the quantity and quality of gear for teenagers.

From an early age the child begins to master the Internet. On the Internet he feels like a fish in water. It is convenient for them, they are a means of entertainment and a means of accessing the world of information. In two years the kid can play a simple game. And in 8-12 years, children become more active in the Internet. Already at this age often get their personal Internet pages, some keep diaries – blogs. Network how they communicate with classmates and with virtual friends. The advantages of the Internet are that the network offers educational and rewarding experience, proper use of which can improve their school performance. It seems to be good, because you should keep up with the times.

But, children don’t see the threat inherent in a global network. Statistics reveals: 9 out of 10 children aged 8 to 15 years have seen pornography online, about 17% regularly look at the forbidden resources about 5.5% to translate what you saw in life. There are some shortcomings, such as inaccurate data and inappropriate for children and adolescents in the field of information. As a result, children and adolescents on his inexperience, the absence of a value system is faced with “adult information”, which is a threat, and physical and mental health.

There are sites devoted to pornography, pyrotechnics, suicide, discussion of the action of certain drugs . A dangerous encounter with people in chat rooms, or other areas . Statistically, it is the biggest risk. Teens can enter, such is not desirable for the companies as a radical political groups, satanic cults. Dangerous involvement in gambling. Even simple toys cause irreparable harm, taking the child for the majority of the time, distracting him from school and relaxing stay, bruising mental and physical health.

Thus, domestic media, creating journals, articles, transmission, etc., should set themselves the task of broadening horizons, raising the level of education, culture, extensive reading among children and adolescents. This problem needs to be solved, despite the fact that to some it would not be profitable. A healthy lifestyle, implemented high intellectual potential, good depth of morality must, in the first instance, to characterize our young generation.
